Lacan in Scotland is dedicated to organising events for those interested in Lacanian psychoanalytic theory and its practice as well as related theories. The aim is to increase the presence and knowledge of Lacanian theory in Scotland/north of England.
Our events this semester in 2018 include prominent Lacanian scholars and practitioners:
Friday March 9
“Black Mirror” Screening and analysis with Calum Neill, Associate Professor of Psychoanalysis and Cultural Theory at Edinburgh Napier University, author of “Without Ground: Lacanian Ethics and the Assumption of Subjectivity”. More info here.
Monday April 23
Seminar by Raul Moncayo, supervising analyst of the San Francisco Bay Area Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis, who will talk about his upcoming book “Knowing, Not-Knowing, and Jouissance, Levels, Symbols, and Codes of Experience in Freud, Lacan, and Psychoanalysis”.
Tuesday May 8
Seminar by Aaron Schuster, Head of the Theory Program at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam, and author of “The Trouble with Pleasure: Deleuze and Psychoanalysis”.
Friday June 29
Seminar by Derek Hook, practitioner and Associate Professor at Duquesne University, NY, author of “Six Moments in Lacan: Communication and Identification in Psychology and Psychoanalysis”.
The events are free and open to everyone. Prior knowledge of Lacanian theory might be helpful for some events but is not necessary.
More details about these events will be announced here in due course.
Please add me to your mailing list.
Hi Marion, unfortunately we don’t have a mailing list but a very good idea indeed. Will put your email on if we set one up.
Cheers,
Amanda
I would like to have more detail about events
Hi Alison,
I’ve just set up a mailing list where you can get notifications about new posts – we’ll post details about the events on this blog on due course. I’ll add your email to the list if that’s okay?
Thanks,
Amanda
