To celebrate the publication of the final instalment of the four volume series Reading Lacan\u2019s \u00c9crits<\/em>, Lacan in Scotland are hosting a special event where we will be joined by the series editors (Professors Stijn Vanheule, Derek Hook and Lacan in Scotland\u2019s own Calum Neill) along with many of the contributors to all four volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please join us for this special discussion session where we will reflect on what we\u2019ve learned from and about Lacan and his teachings through our collective engagement with his \u00e9crits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calum Neill <\/strong>is Professor of Psychoanalysis and Continental Philosophy at Edinburgh Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is the author of Jacques Lacan: The Basics <\/em>(2023), Ethics and Psychology<\/em> (2016) and Without Ground: Lacanian Ethics and the Assumptions of Subjectivity <\/em>and editor of Lacanian Perspectives on Blade Runner 2049<\/em>. With Derek Hook, he edits the Palgrave Lacan Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Derek Hook<\/strong> is Professor of Psychology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, USA, and Professor of Psychology at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He is the author of Six Moments in Lacan<\/em> (2017) and A Critical Psychology of the Postcolonial<\/em> (2012) and editor of Lacan on Depression and Melancholia<\/em> (with Stijn Vanheule) (2022) and Lacan and Race <\/em>(with Sheldon George) (2022). With Calum Neill, he edits the Palgrave Lacan Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stijn Vanheule<\/strong> is Professor of Psychoanalysis and Clinical Psychology at Ghent University in Belgium, a practising psychoanalyst and a member of the New Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis. He is author of Psychiatric Diagnosis Revisited <\/em>(2017) and The Subject of Psychosis <\/em>(2011) and editor of Lacan on Depression and Melancholia <\/em>(with Derek Hook) (2022).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The seminar will take place on Zoom on Thursday 14 March 2024 at 8pm-9:30pm* Greenwich Mean Time\u00a0(GMT) London time.<\/strong> *Please note that United States will be on Daylight Savings Time while the UK will not during this time, so the event will take place an hour later than usual in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
